Big I CNY Golf Tournament

Get ready for an awesome day of golf, networking, and some friendly competition at this year’s Big I CNY Golf Tournament on Monday, June 24th. We’re going even bigger this year at the beautiful Timber Banks. NEW this year, you can pick the style of play that suits you best!


9-Hole Golf Social
Great for beginners and recreational golfers. Get in an easy and relaxing 9-holes first thing in the morning before grabbing lunch at the club house. Plenty of time for you to head into the office or take the rest of the day off…we won’t tell.

18-Hole Tournament
Perfect for avid golfers looking to show off their game and want a challenge. This is the whole tournament experience with contests, lunch, and drinks on the course. We’ll wrap up the day and award prizes at the post-tournament reception and dinner. Contests include Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Hole-in-One and 50/50 Tee Shot. To keep the pace of play moving, we are once again doing max bogey per hole and max 2 putt. We are also capping the tournament to 32 teams. May the best foursome win!


No matter the play you pick, you'll have a great time hitting the links while helping local charities. Thanks to your support of last year’s tournament, we donated $15,000.  The tournament also supports the Project InVEST Robert Maher Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps CNY students continue their education in the field of insurance.  

Golf’s not your game? That’s okay. Come out to Timber Banks for the social reception and dinner. Enjoy the beautiful view from the back deck and catch up with friends.

NextGen CNY Shot Clock Social

This year’s NextGen CNY Shot Clock Social is a slam dunk! Join us on Thursday, March 21st for a fun-filled day on a new court: The Press Room Pub in Syracuse. The Shot Clock Social lineup includes networking, 2 drink tickets, bar-favorite snacks, AND a great workshop to improve your insurance game put on by renowned Dale Carnegie Training.

We love a good charity so we’re supporting ED23HOOPS, a local youth basketball program founded by former SU star Eric Devendorf. This is your chance to complete a tournament bracket and help aspiring young athletes. After the championship game, we’ll donate $250 to ED23HOOPS and the person with the best bracket will win $250 cash and bragging rights.

The holiday party is also a way to give back to our community. Big I CNY is collecting new hats, gloves, and scarves for St. Lucy's Church to families in need. Bring these items with you to the party or bring your checkbook as we can also collect monetary donations.

Legislative Breakfast

The new date for this year’s Big I CNY Legislative Breakfast is on Friday, December 1st.  Big I CNY changed the original date after learning lawmakers need to be in Albany for a conference.

The breakfast lets you meet with your lawmakers and representatives from the Big I NY legislative team to discuss the issues critical to our industry. Scott Hobson, Big I NY’s AVP of Government Relations, will also recap Big I NY’s legislative efforts this year (photo inspection bill!) and provide a briefing on priorities for 2024, including the unfair underwriting practices bill, excess lines modernization, and state of the NY insurance market.

Advocacy is critical to our industry. Learn more and find out how you can get involved. A hot breakfast will be served.

Big I CNY Golf Tournament

Golf is Sold Out; Dinner Registration Available

Big I CNY is excited to announce the 2021 Golf Tournament will be held at Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville. The tournament is on Monday, September 20th. Golf is sold but you can still attend the tournament and catch up with friends you haven’t seen in a while.

New this year - a 50/50 Tee Shot contest and a dunk tank. Get your pitching arm ready to dunk Jim Poindexter and Joe Convertino, Jr to raise money for charity (who are we kidding…for fun, too)!

Dinner registrations are $50 and include the social reception (open bar & food) and a delicious dinner at the brand new Timber Banks clubhouse. You’ll also be able to have fun with the Dunk Tank (more on that below).

The tournament and dinner raise money for local charities. In 2019, $12,000 was donated to 12 charities picked by you. Let’s raise more this year!

IAPAC Fundraiser with Special Guest Assemblywoman Pam Hunter

Join Big I CNY on July 22dn at Bellevue Country Club for a morning meet-and-greet with Assemblywoman Pam Hunter (D, Syracuse).

Assemblywoman Hunter is the influential chair of the Assembly Majority Conference, a member of the Assembly Insurance Committee and Chair of the Health and Long-Term Care Issues Committee for the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL). She has championed numerous bills of interest to independent agents.

This is a great chance to meet and important member of the state legislature and enjoy coffee and light breakfast fare while supporting Big I NY's Independent Agents Political Action Committee (IAPAC). IAPAC is crucial to protecting our industry and customers from harmful and to amplifying our voices in Albany.

Attendees are asked to make a $99 contribution to IAPAC or to the "Pam Hunter of NYS Assembly."

Perhaps now more than ever, what happens in Albany and Washington, D.C. impacts the future of your agency. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn about how Big I NY is standing up for your and your customers' interests!

Assemblywoman Pam Hunter (D, Syracuse), a member of the Assembly Insurance Committee, will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on issues facing the insurance industry and share her perspective on what is in store for 2021. 

Scott Hobson, Big I NY’s AVP of Government Relations will recap Big I NY’s legislative efforts during 2020 and preview the challenges and opportunities for IAs and our customers in the coming year. Scott will also provide an update on the association’s ongoing efforts to promote diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry, through the work of the Inclusion Task Force. 

The Legislative Breakfast is on Tuesday, December 2nd from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. This is a FREE event. Everyone who registers before Thanksgiving (end of day 11/25) will receive a $5 Dunkin Donuts e-gift card.
